Product Description

Ruggedly handsome with superior attention to detail, Invicta's Subaqua Noma Collection Chronograph Watch for men is an eye-catching timepiece with superior functionality. The stainless steel bracelet features contrasting silver-toned and gunmetal, ion-plated links that meet the silver-toned, stainless steel case with hinged joints. The gunmetal, ion-plated, stainless steel bezel features silver-toned hardware detailing and provides an elegant frame for the jet-black dial. Silver-toned hourly indexes, silver-toned hour and minute hands, three subdials, and a calendar window at the four o'clock position provide a multitude of feature functions for this striking watch. This flawless timepiece is water resistant to 1640 feet (500 M) and features Swiss-quartz movement.

Subaqua Collection
Led with expert engineering, and always ready to face the depths, no feat or occasion will ever be too great for Invicta’s Subaqua to handle. The sheer magnitude of this mighty timepiece is superbly executed with surgical-grade solid stainless steel, Swiss automatic movements, and multiple color options of ionic plating. Managing up to 500 meters of water, finished off with a unidirectional rotating bezel, integrated shock resistance, and Invicta’s luminous Tritnite? hands, the Subaqua is the diver’s definitive in negotiating any adventure by sea or by land.

Screw Down Crowns: Many Invicta watches are equipped with a screw down crown to help prevent water infiltration. This is most common on our Diver models. In order to adjust the date and/or time on such a watch, you must first unscrew the crown before you can gently pull it out to its first or second click stop position. To do this, simply rotate the crown counterclockwise until it springs open. When you have finished setting the watch, the crown must then be pushed in and screwed back in tightly. Not doing so will cancel the water resistance of the watch and will void all warranties from the manufacturer. Overall, this process should not require a lot of effort or force.

This review is from: Invicta Men's 5222 Subaqua Noma Collection Gunmetal Ion-Plated and Stainless Steel Chron (Watch)
First, let me say that Invicta quality is generally top notch and a great value for what you get. I own several watches, from inexpensive knockabout quartz movement watches to expensive Swiss automatic movements, and I feel that each has a purpose in my day to day life. I prefer large, heavy sport chronographs, as I have large hands and a large watch looks less like a toy on my wrist. I also enjoy the weight of a large dive watch or chronograph. This watch delivers on both accounts, and is well made, except for some of the material choices. I'm not quite sure why Invicta went with a mineral crystal for the display on this watch. I consider any watch with a price tag over $500 to be a serious watch, and when competing products from other manufacturers with a lower price point (~$300) have similar features and better quality components, including scratch resistant sapphire crystal, I'm left wondering what I'm paying all the money for. It's still an excellent watch, but the price, both list and retail, is a bit inflated for what you're getting. If you can live with a mineral crystal display that will scratch relatively easily, especially compared to sapphire crystal, then there are few reasons not to purchase this watch. But if you appreciate value, you might be better served purchasing a similar watch from Tissot or another manufacturer.

Watch Features:
Automatic Watches
Automatic watches do not operate on batteries. Automatic watches are made up of about 130 or more parts that work together to tell time. Automatic movements mark the passage of time by a series of gear mechanisms, and are wound by the movement of your wrist as you wear it. The gear train then transmits the power to the escapement, which distributes the impulses, turning the balance wheel. The balance wheel is the time regulating organ of a mechanical watch, which vibrates on a spiral hairspring. Lengthening or shortening the balance spring makes the balance wheel go faster or slower to advance or retard the watch. The travel of the balance wheel from one extreme to the other and back again is called oscillation. Lastly, automatic movements come in different types, including movements that are Swiss-made, Japanese-made, and more.
Also referred to as self-winding, watches with automatic movements utilize kinetic energy, the swinging of your arm, to provide energy to an oscillating rotor to keep the watch ticking. They're considered more satisfying to watch collectors (horologists) because of the engineering artistry that goes into the hundreds of parts that make up the movement. If you do not wear an automatic watch consistently (for about 8 to 12 hours a day), you can keep the watch powered with a watch winder (a great gift for collectors).
Pro Diver Collection
Plunge into any horizon using the steadfast guidance of the Invicta Pro Diver. Stylishly classic, internal workings are forged with variations of either Swiss chronograph or 21-jewel automatic movements and willingly navigate in depths up to 300 meters. Built with confident prowess, the fortitude with which these timepieces function makes the Pro Diver the quintessential in performance.

This review is from: Invicta Men's 6998 Pro Diver Collection Automatic Watch (Watch)
The quality is great and the look is good, I just had to adjust my expectations to match the reality of the "new" color. I got this watch May 27th and haven't used any of my other watches since then. My impression (as a result of the pictures) was that the watch had a silver bezel. However the bezel is more of a brown/gray color. That was frustrating because it would be a "dressier" watch if the bezel was the color advertised. I've tried many different ways to take a picture of my watch to match the color shown on the site and haven't been able to reproduce the same results which makes me think this isn't the same watch displayed in the pic. The band is not "black rubber" either it is a grey color not anywhere near "black" but I did see that in the pic and was expecting that- if you want dark black get something else.
I don't work for NASA so the fact that it is off by +/- 3 seconds a day or whatever the other reviewers have calculated doesn't affect my life at all, I simply periodically adjust the time every once in a while (maybe 2 times total).

The quality of this watch seems fine. while it is quite big and heavy. Be aware of this if you want to buy it.
